Flying

The artist who aims at perfection in everything achieves it in nothing.
Eugene Delacroix

What a delightful quote I found this morning. It is just the thing I needed for today. If you are not already familiar with the Fly lady I encourage you to visit her site. It has truly changed my life. So as I make a list of things to do today I am throwing out perfectionism and bringing in progress. I love it. The last few weeks I have gotten so much done and I am so happy to be freeing myself of clutter and junk that is no longer needed. Lately I have spent a lot of time in the kitchen cooking and baking and cleaning. In order to keep my sanity I have to make myself take 15 minute breaks from the kitchen. lol. I love to cook and I love learning to do so as well. This holiday season i am planning on helping my grandmother and my mother cook for Christmas dinner and I am hoping to make several small gift baskets of treats for friends. I haven't reached my goal of caroling at nursing homes but i have started and will continue to pursues it this next week. So anyway I am just thanking the Lord for a new day in which to serve Him and to be a blessing to my family and friends who I love so dearly.

Christmas Time

I love Christmas time. I love the lights and decorations. The music and bustle of the season make me come alive. The gatherings and plays are inspiring and fun. I just love it all, especially the snowy, wintry feeling in the air. I love snowmen and yes even some Santa Claus scenes (though I don’t believe in him or in encouraging the belief of him). The reindeer and beautiful trees it’s all so beautiful. Of course all of this is superfluous to the true reason I celebrate Christmas. The reason I celebrate Christmas is because I am so thankful for God’s great love that He would put on humanity and come as a lowly baby to this world just so that He could sacrifice himself n my place so that I could one ay live forever in Heaven with Him. What an awesome reason to celebrate at any time of year. The awesome thing about setting aside a certain day to celebrate His birth is that it helps us to refocus on what is truly important. Another reason I love this holiday is that it is one of the few times in the year where you can talk and sing about Jesus without much reprimand. It is an awesome time to share with others the reason why we are here and to give, give, give. This year I wish to find even more ways to give then in years past. One way we can all participate is by giving to the Salvation Army. My good friend Bro. Thiel has started his annual kettle drive and instead of starting my own, as I don’t have a large readership, I will simply ask you all to help fill his kettle this year. Another way I wish to give this year is to donate time as I have little money. I wish to visit the many nursing homes in this city and carol. Also I will probably volunteer at a care and share. I’m not sure what else I will find to do except for caroling around my own community and participating in our Christmas play at the church. I am an Angel this year. I just found the perfect white outfit to wear. I am so excited about Christmas this year I hope you all are as well.

Be A Friend

"Remember there's no such thing as a small
act of kindness. Every act creates
a ripple with no logical end."
- Scott Adison

What a thought to start out this thanksgiving week with. I know that at thanksgiving many people gather together and eat large meals, and that's awesome. It's important to get together with family and to celebrate what God has done for us, but I think it is just as important to realize that kindness goes a long way and perfectionism isn't kind. (Ok so if you are a friend of mine or a flybaby you will understand where I am coming from and probably where I am going, but for me and for those readers who don't know here goes.) I realized this fact just recently and I am working on it. My perfectionism gets in the way of relationships. When I want to be friends with someone I have to throw away my idea of the perfect friend this I learned a long time ago and I have worked on accepting people the way they are since then, but recently I realized that more important relationships that friendship where being effected because of my perfectionism. my dear mother, sisters, and grandparents. Those people closest and most dear to me can't truly get close to me because of the fear that they won't measure up to my expectations. This brought me to another realization. I expect myself to be perfect as well. Now I know I am not perfect, but this does not stop me from formulating an image of what I would be if I were perfect. So any way all of this has led me to decide to stop expecting myself to be superwoman. Easier said than done I know. I am going to do it all the same. And then I am going to stop trying to make my family members perfect as well. Now how I am going to do this I'm sure I don't have a cut and dried plan, but I think I will start by trying to think about what I am going to say before saying it. The bible instructs us to do this and I have tried before but once again I am going to think before i speak. And when I think I am going to examine how what I say will sound to the person I am saying it to. If it will be helpful but not kind than I will either not say it or find a way of saying it that will be kind and uplifting instead of mean and demeaning. I encourage you all to do so as well. If you try this on thanksgiving day I think you will be surprised how much better the day will go.

FlyLady Mission 5 Dreams

I'm back! I've taken a little break just to refocus on who I am, where I am going and what I am supposed to do to get there. I am still working through this but I'm definately ready to face it. I am ready to take steps to take back my life an do what the Lord would have me to do. So today I am listening to a flylady show and one of the missions was to write down 5 dreams. So I have done just that.

1. To Run an Orphanage or the modern day equivalent in the country God leads me to
2. To learn a second language
3. to travel extensively
4. To direct a choir
5. To marry the man God picks for me

There you go. These are 5 dreams of mine.

Sunshine

Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.
~ Anthony J. D'Angelo

The weather forecast is shiny today. I am going to see the Broadway performance of Oliver the theatrical production of Oliver Twist a wonderful book by Charles Dickens (i really am not ignorant simply very busy and easily distracted) one of my favorite authors. I am so excited even though I have to go alone I will still have so much fun.
We have raised approx. $1400 towards our trip to West Coast. My goal is to raise at least 1/2 of the money needed. So we are aiming to raise $4200. So we need to raise at least $2800 by the end of this month. I'm optimistic about our prospects at this point. we have so many different things going on that I know we will raise quit a bit. I am really looking forward to this West Coast and I pray that our hard work pays off.
Spanish isn't going so well in my opinion. I am still getting fairly good grades but I do not think I am learning as much as I would like to. Oh well maybe I am pushing to hard. I obviously am getting into it because the rough draft of my last paper was full of prepositional phrases. In Spanish you use a lot of them. I'll see you next time.

Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.
– Dr. Seuss

So be the you God wants you to be today. Don't let anyone cajole you into being someone esle, simply be yourself. God made us each individuals for a reason. He gave you the tools to be who you are and nobody else. So be who God made you to be with everything you have. You are a unique design fashioned by a master hand.

Trent Urijah was born on Thurs. Sept 18th. This little guy is truly a unique creation of God. We are all so thankful that he is a healthy baby, especially after his sisters premature birth. We give God the glory for giving my friends Isabel and Ben a healthy child to care for.

New Job?

Well My new job isn't exactly panning out in the same way i had origanally envisioned, but God has a better plan in mind. I won't be living in but I will work fewer hours at a pretty good rate. It's not the best rate I've ever had but it will do for now. The other way would have been way undervalue even if it would have been more in the end. I am not a slave and so with the help of my friends and family I made a better decision and have worked out a better plan. The most important thing is I will have a car all my own in just a few hours and I have my driver's license back. How exciting! I love to drive and am so glad the Lord is allowing me this opportunity. I am now just trusting Him to help me find the jobs to pay for all of the expenses that come along with it..
So that's whats going on in my life at the moment. I am also very busy planing and organizing everything for our trip to West Coast Conference which is only 10 weeks away. I am so excited. I can't wait to see all of my friends and to hear the awesome preaching I know will come. We are bringing two brand new converts with us. Both are in our college and career class and it is so exciting to have them become a part and see all that God is doing in thier lives.
My Spanish is coming along but I am really hoping to find some way to incorporate more spanish in to my life. I need some language immersion to really get me going. I am trusting the lord to lead me in this area as well.

God is Great

"I long to accomplish a great and noble task,
but it is my chief duty to accomplish small
tasks as if they were great and noble."
- Helen Keller

What a quote! This is the quote I will keep in mind as I begin my brand new job. Yup I just got a new job. I am now a personal assistant and nanny. I will be living in and working long hours. Fortunately it is only one almost 3 year old. I think it will be a good job for me but I have a month to decide if it is a good fit. Also I am going to get a car soon as I will need it for this job. I am very excited and nervous. I keep popping back and forth in emotions. Anyway, I will do my best to accomplish this small task as if it were a great and noble deed. I believe the lord will help me with this. In fact I know he gave me this job and he is working out all the details even as I write.

I serve a great and awesome God. I am making a new resolution to live by faith and stop limiting Him. The Bible says “ye have not because ye ask not” So I am resolving to look at things through the filter of what aligns with the word of God as his will and asking for some things. One of the things I believe is that He will make a way for my Father to be financially able to quit his second job and that my family will all be in church together on Wednesday nights. These things are definitely not against biblical standards and therefore fall under the will of God for his people heading. He will honor the faithfulness of his servants. Not because we deserve it but because he so loves us.

Thank you lord for this job and all of the things you are about to do in my life and that of my church and family.

Adiós amigos. Hasta luego!

Time Flies

How did it get so late so soon? Its night before its afternoon. December is here before its June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?
– Dr. Seuss

Sorry for not posting earlier but as you can see from my quote above tempus fugit (time flies).

This last week I had a chance to volunteer at the radio station KTLF. I have never been in a radio station before and thought it was quite interesting. I answered phones for their share-a-thon with several other volunteers. All of the people were friendly and made the time go by quickly. My friend Sis. Janie was the one who asked me to come with her because she listens to KTLF all the time. Their music is often mellow and is good if you like traditional or slower contemporary Christian music.

I also started my Spanish class last week and I believe everything is going well. I wasn’t sure if the transition would go well but so far I have done everything well. I am surprised at how much I enjoy online classes. I think it is easier for me because I love technology and dialogue. I get both of those in the online class. Instead of going to class and listening to one person drone on about things that are sometimes interesting and sometimes not, I get to read posts from other students and respond to them therefore making dialogue possible. I also get to use my computer all the time. I’m online everyday and I love it. I dropped my speech class because it simply was too much and the teacher was very unprofessional. If I follow my new plan I should make it into UCCS in the spring semester of 2009. This means that I might take 5 or 6 years to finish instead of 4 but I will have good grades and that is what matters.

I also had the chance to babysit for a family that I only babysit for occasionally. They just had a new little one and so haven’t needed me for some time. I love watching Tyler and his little sister Meaghan is just as fun. We played with his train set then painted wonderful artwork with lots of colors. We also played outside and ate dinner together. I so enjoy being with these little ones. I got another chance to work with my young friends in Sunday school. We didn’t do anything too exciting this Sunday because it was simply a review of the last 13 weeks but I still had fun because I was with the children.

Another project I have been working on is organizing the fundraising for our young people to go to a West Coast Conference in Fresno, CA. This family conference enriches and strengthens our young people and promotes unity. It is also a great place to meet other young people and see the young people from other states that you may only see once a year. I have just been put in charge of the fund raising and am very excited about getting some great fund raisers going. We have gotten started a little late this year, but I plan on doing better next year. So far everything is going pretty smoothly, although, I have a tendency to stress out about minute details.

So as you can see I have been a little busy with school work, volunteering, fund raising organization, and working with my children. I love being busy though and don’t really mind the time flying unless I am pressing a time constraint. I’ve done pretty well though.

Until we meet again……………..

Luaghter is good Medicine

Humor is the great thing, the saving thing. The minute it crops up, all our irritations and resentments slip away and a sunny spirit takes their place.

Mark Twain

Today I am taking my theme form Mary Poppins" “A spoonful of sugar”. I believe that laughter is truly medicine for the soul. In order to keep my soul and spirit in good health I try to laugh every day. I am happy that I have been able to rub off on my serious sister Racquel. She laughs easily enough at certain things but is much too serious about others. I view it as my duty to lighten her up a little and in turn let her convince me to take life a little more seriously. So, most of the time we balance each other out by helping each other see the value of each take on life.

Amazingly, I also have to force myself to take things a little less seriously at times. One example is at church when Bro. Burgess is preaching, I get into a mode of such intensity that when the more lighthearted Bro. Johnson gets up to preach it takes a little while to switch modes and laugh at his jokes. It’s not the Bro. Burgess never laughs it simply isn’t part of his personality to make jokes whereas Bro. Johnson is naturally funny. I am also not saying that Bro. Johnson never takes things seriously because there are times when he is deadly serious. In fact when he gets serious it seems even more important, because it is in so much contrast with his normal mood.

So the point of my little blurb is that we should all be conscious of how seriously we take ourselves and the situations that are around us. The more we practice viewing our world with humor, the better we will feel. We will have less stress and more peace. Life was not meant to be a constant worry. Especially to those of us who have been washed in the blood of the Lamb. There are enough serious things that we cannot take lightly, so making mountains out of molehills simply makes our spirits sick. A spirit that has a weight on it takes a toll on our physical beings. That is why stress and fear can give heart attacks and high blood pressure. So ,I encourage all of my readers to strive to take life less seriously and try to laugh every day.

Education Cash incentive

A classmate in my Intro to Ed. class posted this article. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/08/21/AR2008082103874.html

I am interested in what others think of this incentive. I think it has possibilities, but I can also see some drawbacks. Fist it will probably increase student achievement but what will it do to their moral outlook. What will be done with the money. That is a lot of cash to simply hand to an 8th grader. Also this might be an incentive for parent involvement, but whether that is a good thing I am not so sure. The parent involvement would often be for personal gain and might give many more of a reason for abuse. I think it might work if the children were given classes on how to manage the money and required to put a certain amount away for higher education or personal use after the age of 18.

Please comment on this article I would love to read others opinions.

MY Word of the Day

I found a new word to add to my collection of awesome words I constantly have to define to the people I speak to. Lol just kidding. I did find a new word though and (Bro. Thiel should be happy to know) I looked it up in the dictionary. So here is the word of the day.

OpprobriumOp*pro"bri*ous\, a. [L. opprobriosus, fr. opprobrium. See Opprobrium.]
1. Expressive of opprobrium; attaching disgrace; reproachful; scurrilous; as, opprobrious language.
They . . . vindicate themselves in terms no less opprobrious than those by which they are attacked. --Addison.
2. Infamous; despised; rendered hateful; as, an opprobrious name.
This dark, opprobrious den of shame. --Milton. -- Op*pro"bri*ous*ly, adv. -- Op*pro"bri*ous*ness, n.

Classes

So I just started classes at PPCC ( pikes peak community college) for my third semester. I am taking 16 credit hours and 2 of them do not go towards my degree in Elementary Education.

1. English composition - online
2. Introduction to Education - online
3. Spanish II - online
4. Public Speaking - Mondays & Wednesdays from 11:30 - 12:45
5. Physical Education - Workout in campus gym for 40 min. 3 times a week
6. First Aid and CPR - Sep. 13th and 20th form 8:30- 3:30

Originally I was going to take my Spanish class on campus but the only classes that haven't been canceled are hybrid classes and the teacher is very hard to understand and not very informative about what needs to be done on worksheets. I had her last semester. I did well in the class but I don't feel I did as well as I wished. Hopefully this will work and if not then I will cave and ask her to take me into her class I have a few weeks to try out the online class.

Another of my online classes, Intro to Ed, is not as easy as I thought it would be. It requires a lot of work that is unconventional such as interviewing teachers and touring schools to see how they are run. I also have to start putting together a portfolio that will help with looking for jobs after I am out of college. I am hoping that I will be working in a private school when I do work; although, the Lord might lead me to work in a public school. One rarely knows what the Lord has in store.

Next is English Comp I. I took this class once before but did not pass because my papers were mostly late. I overloaded my schedule that semester. I am doing my best no to do so again and will try to asses how well I am doing prior to the drop date so that if I have to much I can drop a class. My teacher seems competent and I only have four papers to write opposed to six. I think it evens out though because we are also graded on our posts. Each week we have one to two posts that must be 200 words long and must make two responses of 100 to 150 words to other students posts.

I just registered today for the Public Speaking class, so I don't know much about it. Fortunately Racquel is in the same class so we can share books and work together on our speaches. This is the class I wil drop if my schedule is too hectic before the drop date.

Racquel is also taking P. E. with me so we are planning on working out everyday. So far we have done well in this endeavor. My First aid and CPR Class hopefully will not be too hard.

There you have it. This is my thoughts on the last few days. I may post a few posts in both Spanish and English just for practice in future. We shall see. I had better get back to work. Adios!

Self-Discipline

Self -discipline - mental self-control used in directing or changing behavior, learning something, or training for something, reflexive verb to make you act or work in a controlled or systematic way
I lost the quotations I was going to use for this post but decided to go ahead and post anyway. I have been working on disciplining myself for a few months now. Anyone who knows me well knows that I tend to be messy or cluttered and that I am more spontaneous than disciplined. So I am working on and have been succeeding in getting some disciplines down. I still have room for improvement but now I only miss my routine maybe once or twice a week instead of whole weeks at a time. One way that I am working on this is by holding myself accountable to Sis. Burgess my Pastor’s wife. Last night I had a meeting with her to set goals for this month. 1. Lose 5lbs. 2. Fast one day a week 3. Set at specific time to study preferably with someone else so that we can hold ourselves accountable to each other for study periods. These seem like feasible goals and I even have a plan on how to implement each of them. Today Racquel and I set up a tentative schedule for study and workouts. Since I have proven to myself that I am capable of reaching a goal by being committed and not letting one failure discourage me I believe I will make it this time as well. Another thing that has helped me is the flylady’s website. Although I do not follow her plan to the letter because I am not the primary homemaker in my home her philosophy and main ideas inspire me. I do lots of things in 15 minute power spurts and I have also set aside me time every day. I even have free time scheduled. I am very excited and can’t wait to see if my plan works. Thankfully I do know that it will not always go exactly as planned but I will not let setbacks discourage me from keeping to it as much as humanly possible. “I can do all thing through Christ who strengthens me.” Phil. 4:13 Well it’s time for bed I’ll try to write more later. Goodnight all.

Lost Phone & Crazy Hormones

I love being me. Being bubbly and happy go lucky most of the time is all right with me. When I suddenly start getting snappish I feel awful about myself. So this weekend I lost my phone really and truly. I didn't just misplace it because I have searched high and low and it is nowhere to be seen. Of course normally I wouldn't be so frantic about it but for some reason I decided to get emotinal about it this time. I got angry at my sister and cried because I didn't have the money to get a new SIM card. Fortunately my father got an upgrade in June but didn't like the phone he upgraded to as much as the one he has so he is giving it to me. I deal with crazy hormones all the time living with 5 women in one house has a lot of challenges.

Spontaneous camping trip

Sorry I’ve been so lazy about posting these last few weeks. I don’t know what got into me but I truly have been being lazy since heritage. I’m here to catch you all up on everything though just to tell you about Racquel and I camping. We very spontaneously decided to go camping this week. So Thursday we loaded up and went to an expensive campsite near Woodland Park and Manitou Lake. This is the first time ever we have gone alone so we didn’t venture too far out. Unfortunately where we went you had to buy firewood how ridiculous is that?
We got to the campsite around 7:00 and actually succeeded in putting up the tent before it got dark, although we really pushed it. It was quite interesting as neither one of us has set up the tent without dad there before. We did a pretty good job. As we couldn’t find the place to buy the firewood we decided to wait for a fire until Friday. Then we played a game of Uno while listening to a story. After that we tried to sleep. I forgot how hard the ground is to sleep on and got about 2 hours of sleep. After waking at dawn on Friday I got some breakfast and went for a walk. We brought Racquel’s dog, Tigger, with us and had to break him of lying down in the middle of our walks. During our walk racquel started to break out in hives. Neither one of us could figure out what caused them. The only thing we could think of was that her skin was cold. For a few years Racquel has broke out in hives every time she went out a did anything in the snow. We thought it ludicrous that she would be allergic to the cold but when this happened w3 started to really wonder. So when we got back to camp she put on a sweeter to get warm and the hives cleared up. Later on Mom came up and we told her about it. She then went home and looked online to see if there was an allergy to the cold. Sure enough there is. It is called Urticaria.(http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/allergy/AN00693) When we got back to the campsite I taught Racquel how to play the master’s edition of Phase 10 and we started another story. We love listening to audio books and never go anywhere without at least one to listen to. In the middle of our game we had a visitor. My Father takes orders for stores in woodland park and came by to see if we needed anything. Although we thought we were ok he called mom and said we need a hammer and an axe and some more sleeping bags. She arrived right around lunch time and we all went to the lake. After the lake we made a fire. And yes it is the first time I have made a fire on my own. I did a very good job and managed to cook some good hot dogs. In the evening we made smore’s and hot dogs and stayed up late listening to the story. I slept better because of the extra sleeping bags for padding. Saturday we broke camp and the whole family came up for some time at the lake. Dad likes to fly fish and has a new toy this year. He got himself a little fly fisher’s boat that is pretty cool. We had fun but decided that next year we will plan a little better and have more to do. We might even go for a whole week. We will also find a better place to camp hopefully with easier access to a swimming whole.

Update

Sorry it's been a while since I wrote. I have been being lazy this week.

I am currently looking for a new job. I would prefer it to be a nanny job and I have a few prospects. On Monday I had a good interview for a job that entails watching two boys ages 2 1/2 and 11 months. I would work from 8 to 4:30, Monday to Wednesday. I would get $250 a week which isn't bad for a part time job in fact it's very good for me. I had a phone interview yesterday for a 5 year old and 5 month old. It is also thre days a week probably Mon., Wed., Fri. from 8 to 1. I didn't get agood answer

How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will have been all of these.

George Washington Carver

Wow Isn't that Awesome. I think I will keep that in mind this week. I believe I already practice these things. Whether they are achieved all the time is not probable. I know that I am not always tolerant of much it is one of the weaknesses of my character. An example of this came up just today when I got a little impatient and irritated because of the actions of one of my church friends. Thank the Lord I have the Holy Ghost or I would would be the most judgmental and critical person. So my main struggle is tolerance and patience with certain strengths and weaknesses. Isn't it strange how strong our weaknesses are and how weak our strengths turn out to be. Without God's help I weaknesses would always be stronger then the things that should be considered strengths of my character. This probably sound as clear as mud but if you have ever taken personality tests you will understand what I am saying better.

I am very excited about Heritage this year. I am also a little nervous because the music to the song I have picked out to sing tommorrow turned out to be a lot harder to figure out than I originally thought. We finally figured out most of it after 2 weeks. I've had three different pianists work on it and so I am fairly sure we've worked out most of the kinks but my nervousness comes in because I have yet to practice with all of the musicians. I will simply have to leave it in God's hands I know He will work it out. If you would like to listen to the song I am singing you can listen to this you tube video.http://youtube.com/watch?v=ovh-1qXpZF0
Thank you for reading

Signing

I am part of the Signs of Calvary which is our sign language ministry at my church. We have learned a lot in the past three years. Our little group started out just to be people interested in learning sign language. Then we branched out and started Signs of Calvary a signing choir. We have learned and done several songs and we practice signing songs during church. Our leader is one of the best interpreter in Colorado. Unfortunately, we don't have any deaf people right now but we are preparing the womb. This is the First year Bro Geist has asked us if we would help interpret songs for Heritage services. We have several deaf people come to Heritage and he is the only interpreter besides my mother who is unable to sign now because her back is hurting all the time. I am nervous because it seems as if I am the only on who has volunteered and I don't feel very ready. I guess I am doing pretty good though or Bro. Geist wouldn't put me up there. Last year my friend Ashley and I signed the song "Who Am I" by Casting Crowns. Here are some pics.

Getting ready for Heritage is busy business. All week I have either been at the church or at home getting ready. From today on I will be at the church every day until a week from next tuesday. UP

Someone emailed this to me so I am posting it. I did not come UP with this but I think it's great. Whatever is UP with the English language? lol. I love it!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU THINK ENGLISH IS EASY???
Read to the end . . a new twist
1) The bandage was wound around the wound.
2) The farm was used to produce produce .
3) The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.
4) We must polish the Polish furniture.
5) He could lead if he would get the lead out.
6) The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.
7) Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present .
8) A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.
9) When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.
10) I did not object to the object.
11) The insurance was invalid for the invalid.
12) There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row .
13) They were too close to the door to close it.
14) The buck does funny things when the does are present..
15) A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line.
16) To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow.
17) The wind was too strong to wind the sail.
18) Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.
19) I had to subject the subject to a series of tests.
20) How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?

Let's face it - English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England or French fries in France. Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat. We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.
And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth, beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So one moose, 2 meese? One index, 2 indices? Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend? If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it? If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? Sometimes I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane. In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell?
How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which, an alarm goes off by going on.

English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race, which, of course, is not a race at all That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible.

PS. - Why doesn't 'Buick' rhyme with 'quick'

You lovers of the English language might enjoy this . There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that is 'UP.'
It's easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP ? At a meeting, why does a topic come UP ? Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report?

We call UP our friends. And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver, we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car . At other times the little word has real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses. To be dressed is one thing, but to be dressed UP is special.

And this UP is confusing: A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP . We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.

We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP ! To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP , look the word UP in the dictionary. In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4th of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions. If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP , you may wind UP with a hundred or more. When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP ..

When it rains, it wets the earth and often messes things UP .When it doesn't rain for awhile, things dry UP .One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP , for now my time is UP, so............ it is time to shut UP .!

lo isn't it great!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Getting Bethany ready to go Camping

Getting Bethany ready to go camping is a chore. lol. Let me explain. Bethany is 15 and has spinabifida. She is paralyzed from the waist down. Because of this she needs a lot of extra stuff in fact she packs two full suitcases for an 11 day camping trip. Thankfully I have learned how to pack the flylady way and I believe I have everything under control. For the last three days we have been doing laundry nonstop so I hope when the family gets home we can get a routine so that we won't have such a hassle with laundry. I'm probably dreaming though because I tried that last time and it only lasted about a month. Oh well I'll keep trying. One day I will be in charge of my own household and I hope to keep a better handle on it then. Back to Bethany aside from two suitcases to pack, she also needs to have her chair adjusted to fit on the back of the four wheeler. Get this she loves 4 wheeling and fishing and camping as long as her daddy is there. You may well wonder how we get her chair on the back of a 4 wheeler. Well first of all her wheel chair has a chair that detaches so that it can sit either in her manual or her electric wheelchair. By detaching the seat we have fund a way to have her be comfortable on the 4 wheeler. We attach the seat by using Velcro and ratchet straps. Then we have to fix pieces of foam for her feet to rest on. This year we are trying to fix her a hat with netting to help keep off mosquitoes. Bethany has been a bit moody today because she wants to go camping today instead of tomorrow. She knows that they can't leave until Dad gets home and so she has been waiting for him to get home all day long. A few years ago we almost lost our little bundle of joy. She had some major issues and stopped eating for a while. We are so glad she has finally regained her appetite and as a silver lining got medicaid as a result. Because of this she now has the therapy she lacked for many years and has progressed so much in her vocabulary and eating skills. She is now able to feed herself as long as the food has been pre-cut. We are hoping that she will eventually be able to use a transfer board to get out of bed and into her wheelchair. Unfortunately her excellent physical therapist decided to go to Alaska for the summer and she is without one right now. I would like to ask you all to pray we find another good therapist.

Scripture Memorizatoin

This Bubble is in a Sunday school class for young people who have graduated from High school but are unmarried or under the age of 30. It is called the College and Careers class and we do a lot of in depth Bible studies. This Qaurter we are studying the doctrine of monotheism. I have been given this list of Scritpures to memorize: deuteronomy 6:4-9: Isaiah 43:10-11, Isaiah 44:6,24; Isaiah 9:6; James 2:19; 1 Timothy 2:5;1 Timothy 3:16; John 1:1; John 10:30; John14:7-11; Colossians 2:9-10. Some of them I have memorized before and simply need to refresh others I must commit to memory now. So I chose to start with Isaiah 43:10-11. I have memorized the first verse.
Isaiah 43:10
Ye are my witnesses saith the Lord, and my servants whom I have chosen: that you may know and believe me, and understand that I am he. Before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
So my next verse will be verse 11. I hope I can memorize these well. We are having a contest each Sunday and whoever wins gets a gift card to a restaurant. I hope i win at least once.

A Day in the Life of this Bubble

Welcome,

So glad you came to join me as I float through a day in my life. This morning I woke up at 7:45. I brushed my teeth, got dressed, cleaned my bathroom then cleaned my room. After these grueling exercises I practiced the song I will be singing at Heritage Conference. Then I came upstairs and my mother blew me into the job of drilling holes for a 4-h project of my sister's. After this I ate breakfast, listened to Charlie Bone and the Time Twister, and played Mahjong Quest II. It wasn't as challenging as it sounds. My Grandmother then captured me and took me to her house to try on clothes. I took a few back with me and then continued with my former activities until 11:30. When I made myself some tortellini and left to babysit three children for the first time: Zane-age 6, Sydney- age4, and Hunter- age 18months. Amazingly enough these children are intelligent, imaginative, and fairly well behaved. First, I made their lunches which consisted of peanut butter and honey sandwiches with fruit, crackers and milk. Unfortunately I was wearing a white shirt and well let's just say I'm a clutz and I never get a break. So after getting through lunch we went out front and played house in the hot sun. At 1:15 we decided to go inside and watch Curious George. At 2 the younger children went down for naps and Zane and I made water stamps on the driveway by getting our hands and feet wet and pressing them into the cement. Although they disapeared quickly, it was fun to do. It looked like rain so we went inside and played with trucks and blocks and generally had fun until Sydney and Hunter woke up. Then they decided to go and watch Bob the Builder and have a snack. After an hour of tv their mother came home and I got paid. Grandma picked me up and I ate Taco Bell for dinner. Then I was leaving to go to prayer meeting and Shauna called asking if she could come over and practice my song. So I stayed home as I knew the only way she could hear the song was at my house and I needed to get some stuff from her. After our practice I got my little sister Bethany who is paralized in bed. That brings us to now. I have been writing this post for the last 20 minutes and I am now going to study my bible, pray and get ready for tomorrow. Thank you all for listening to my simple day.
Untill I float this way again.......
