Humor is the great thing, the saving thing. The minute it crops up, all our irritations and resentments slip away and a sunny spirit takes their place.
Mark Twain
Today I am taking my theme form Mary Poppins" “A spoonful of sugar”. I believe that laughter is truly medicine for the soul. In order to keep my soul and spirit in good health I try to laugh every day. I am happy that I have been able to rub off on my serious sister Racquel. She laughs easily enough at certain things but is much too serious about others. I view it as my duty to lighten her up a little and in turn let her convince me to take life a little more seriously. So, most of the time we balance each other out by helping each other see the value of each take on life.
Amazingly, I also have to force myself to take things a little less seriously at times. One example is at church when Bro. Burgess is preaching, I get into a mode of such intensity that when the more lighthearted Bro. Johnson gets up to preach it takes a little while to switch modes and laugh at his jokes. It’s not the Bro. Burgess never laughs it simply isn’t part of his personality to make jokes whereas Bro. Johnson is naturally funny. I am also not saying that Bro. Johnson never takes things seriously because there are times when he is deadly serious. In fact when he gets serious it seems even more important, because it is in so much contrast with his normal mood.
So the point of my little blurb is that we should all be conscious of how seriously we take ourselves and the situations that are around us. The more we practice viewing our world with humor, the better we will feel. We will have less stress and more peace. Life was not meant to be a constant worry. Especially to those of us who have been washed in the blood of the Lamb. There are enough serious things that we cannot take lightly, so making mountains out of molehills simply makes our spirits sick. A spirit that has a weight on it takes a toll on our physical beings. That is why stress and fear can give heart attacks and high blood pressure. So ,I encourage all of my readers to strive to take life less seriously and try to laugh every day.
In every job that must be done
There is an element of fun
You find the fun and.... snap!
The job's a game
And every task you undertake
Becomes a piece of cake
A lark! A spree!
It's very clear to see
That... a...
Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
The medicine go do--own
The medicine go down
Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
In a most delightful way
A robin feathering his nest
Has very little time to rest
While gathering his
Bits of twine and twig
Though quite intent in his pursuit
He has a merry tune to toot
He knows a song
Will move the job along
For a
Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
The medicine go do--own
The medicine go down
Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down
In a most delightful way.
(musical)
The honeybees that fetch the nectar
From the flower to the comb
Never tire of ever buzzing to and fro
Because they take a little nip
For every flower that they sip
And hence.. (echo)
They find... (echo)
(duo) Their task is not a grind
Ah (musical scale)
(End music)
